The West Village includes the area north of Houston to 14th Street on the West Side. NYU students, professionals, families and artists are among the many residences of the area. The West Village tends to be very expensive, because the buildings are either small and have original details or are large luxury type buildings. The streets of the West Village, as you go West past Hudson Street, become very small and European in feel, but the streets near 6th and 7th Avenue are usually noisy and crowded. There are many restaurants, bars and shops all around the West Village, some loud and populated, some small and discreet.
