Tribeca encompasses the West Side below Canal Street, Battery Park City, the South Street Seaport and south to Wall Street and the financial district. Although there are many rental buildings here, it has only recently become a residential area.

Below Soho, from Canal to Chambers Street, is the beginning of Tribeca. This area contains many large and small buildings, new and old, loft conversions and commercial space. This is a very expensive area because of the large lofts. There are not many services in this area (supermarkets etc), but there are a number of trendy restaurants and bars scattered among the small streets.

Battery Park City runs along the Hudson River and The World Financial Center and has several beautiful parks and convenient shopping for residents of the area. Almost all of the buildings located here are new, most with luxury building amenities (Doorman, parking, health club, and pool). There is a great walkway that runs along the Hudson River from 14th Street to the Battery, where you can rollerblade, ride your bike or take a walk. For the most part, the area is populated by families and Wall Street. professionals.

The South Street Seaport is on the East Side, near the Fulton Street fish market. Although it is quite touristy during the day, it is very quiet at night. This historic area has several new high rise luxury buildings, offering top of the line luxury living at reasonable prices (for Manhattan). For the most part, the area is populated by families and Wall Street professionals. It is a quick walk to Broad Street and Wall Street where many of the financial firms are located.

The area at the southern most part of Manhattan, also known as Wall Street, is the financial heart of the city. It houses the NASDAQ and NY Stock Exchange. There are several new conversion buildings in this area, again, luxury living in brand new buildings. There are drawbacks to living here -it is very quiet at night with few services, although with many people relocating, shops are slowly opening up due to the demand. The positive side to living here is that there are apartments available in full service buildings.
