The Mid East area is located on the East Side between 42nd Street north to 60th Street. The area includes The United Nations, Beekman Place, Sutton Place, and Tudor City. There are many large doorman buildings, many of which are co-ops and condos, and some rentals. Due to the proximity to the UN, many of the available rentals are short term, furnished units. The area east of Lexington Avenue becomes much more residential, whereas the area from Madison to 5th Avenue tends to be more commercial and touristic. Central Park begins on 59th Street and there are many large stores and hotels in this area.
